Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you take insurance?

We are currently working on becoming in-network providers for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Priority Health. We offer Superbills (documentation) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. To help offset the cost, we offer a 10% discount for same day payments.

2. Do I need a set diagnosis or physician referral to begin?

No! A prescription is not needed for evaluations and treatment sessions. A prescription is only necessary when insurance is billed.

3. What does an evaluation look like?

An evaluation is dynamic and interactive lasting around 90 minutes. Typically, evaluations consist of standardized assessments, clinical observation, parent input, and review of your child’s medical history. With this comprehensive format, we can hone in on the best plan of care for your child including specific goals. The clinician will review evaluation results, individualized therapy treatment recommendations, and frequency of therapy sessions.

4. What does therapy look like?

Therapy is interactive and hands on! Clinicians will make sure each treatment session is a positive experience. Therapy will look different depending on your child’s goals and strengths. Therapy sessions utilize evidence-based practice techniques through a play-based learning approach based on your child’s cognitive age. Treatment sessions last around 45 minutes with 15 minutes allotted at the end of the session to answer any questions and review strategies/ provide ideas for parent carryover throughout the week. Goals are revised as your child makes progress. We celebrate all big and small milestones!

5. Where do evaluations and treatment take place?

Evaluations and treatment happen in the convenience of your home. If you are outside of Traverse City region and surrounding counties, we provide telehealth services. We understand the busy schedules of working parents. We offer community services, which may take place in your child’s daycare/school setting.

6. Is there therapy during holidays and inclement weather?

We follow TCAPS calendar. We will not hold therapy sessions on snow days or over scheduled breaks such as Christmas and Spring Break.  However, we do provide therapy throughout the summer.
